A prime-rated 100 kVA set (80 kW at 0.8 power factor). A 4.4 litre four-cylinder turbo diesel turns a four-pole alternator at 1,500 rpm, which gives 50 Hz (1,500 × 4 ÷ 120) at 400 V three-phase, 144 A at full load. Diesel is drawn from the 200 litre tank in the base frame through the water separator and the fuel filter to the injection pump, which feeds the four injectors; at 75 % load the set burns about 16.3 L/h, so a tankful lasts about 12 hours. The engine oil (8.3 L) is changed with its filter every 500 h, together with the fuel filter, the separator element and the air-filter element; the fan belt is replaced at 2,000 h and the coolant (14 L) and thermostat at 3,000 h. These intervals are typical for this class of set; the engine maker's schedule always wins.
